Hi Glampers

It is coming to that time of year again, Christmas Markets, Christmas shopping and best of all Baileys and Hot Chocolate ! I love it all!

This weekend I ventured down to our local town of Harrogate to do some shopping and  check out the Christmas Markets. I am determined this year to have all my shopping finished by December so I don't have to spend my weekends trying to find last minute Christmas gifts. Whilst the market was very busy I did enjoy a glass of mulled cider and a German Sausage!

This year I have done a lot of my shopping online. It can be so much cheaper with the added luxury of staying warm and dry from the comfort of my own sofa ! I have put together some gift ideas I have come across whilst doing my own Christmas shopping. This year I have based my gift ideas on local days out and experiences as we here at Camp Katur believe that making memories is what counts.

RHS Harlow Car Gardens Harrogate Membership
Now this is a great gift especially for parents or friends who love days out exploring beautiful gardens and plants. A annual pass gives you unlimited access to the gardens for a year, plus you can take a guests with you. You also have access to their Sister Gardens, one of which being our local Thorpe Perrow Gardens which is only 10 minutes away from Camp. Harlow Car Gardens also has gift shops and Betty's Tea Rooms which can add to the experience of a day out.  For more information visit https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/harlow-carr .

Real Simulation - Flight Simulator Experience, Harrogate

The Forbidden Corner is a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. There is lots to discover and explore here and it is great for both children and adults alike. I loved going here as a child and I still do now i'm in my 30's ! It is a great family day out. If you wanted to treat a family to a family pass this Christmas it is £40.00 as they can call up and book their trip when it suits them. For more information visit http://www.theforbiddencorner.co.uk/visitor-information/

You can view all our accommodations on our website www.campkatur.com and to order a gift voucher just give us a call on 01845 202100.

I hope these give you some ideas you can use for your own Christmas Shopping for your family and friends. With experience day gifts people can have a great day out that they will remember for a long time, which from my point of view is something much more worth while than soaps  and socks !

From everyone here at Camp Katur we hope you have a lovely Christmas !

Tuesday 10 May 2016

Hi Glampers!

Wedding season is upon us this month and we thought this year we would kick start things with our very own Wedding Fair. It was a great day and truly enjoyable and we even had some nice weather which was a bonus! We were able to showcase our Rustic Barn and Orangery as well as our beautiful woodland ceremony area which was styled by Jan from Celebration Ceremonies.

We had Totally Tipi displaying one of their impressive Tipi's as we do offer a land hire option here and  this was decorated by Jane Steel from Wedding and Events who's table decorations and hanging lanterns made the Tipi look so pretty.

We had lots of positive feedback from guests and traders who attended the fair which is great, we hope to have another one next year.

We had our first wedding of the year last week, it was Star Wars inspired on May the 4th which I though was brilliant.( May the 4th be with you !) Shaun and Jennifer had beautiful red and white flower center pieces set into wooden logs with tea lights which looked perfect on our rustic trestle tables along with their hessian and lace table runners. The red roses which lined the ceremony path were also the perfect touch.

After their ceremony they had drinks in the meadow from our communal Tipi which gave guests the chance to chat and mingle and chill out in the glorious sunshine.

Shaun and Jennifer chose a wedding breakfast of hot dogs with wedges and salad followed by a giant banana split and for their evening meal they had Indian street food.

I have been looking into predicted wedding trends for 2016, it will be interesting to see if any feature in our weddings here on camp, luckily festival weddings seem to be a big hit for 2016 as well as themed weddings such as Star Wars, James Bond and Hollywood Glamour. Metalic's and sparkles will be popular this year especially rose gold and yellow gold. Dipped dye is also going to be popular. Mismatched bridesmaids dresses are also a hot trend this year, many people opting for same colour dresses in different styles. I am a bridesmaid in a few weeks and we have gone for this option. Buffets are going to take a back seat while many people opt for tea parties, street food, posh sandwiches and build your own pizzas.

As always if you have any feedback I would love to hear from you,

Bye for now,

Girl in the cupboard xxxx

Happy New Year Glampers !

We are busy on camp getting ready for a fun filled 2016 season opening again on Friday 18th March. As we do every Winter we are improving our site, taking on board suggestions and generally trying to make your stay with us more enjoyable. Here is a list of changes you can expect to see this year.
1. All three of our Safari Tents will now have a wall between the two bedroom areas making things that bit more private and there will also be a door between the bedrooms and the lounge/kitchen areas which will make it easier for families when the kids are ready for bed but the adults want to stay up and play.

2. We have improved the decor in the communal bathrooms, tiles have been layed and we have painted the walls giving a much more warm and cosy feel.

3. We have invested in an improved solar power system and small wind turbines in the hope that this will improve our solar power on duller and darker days.

4. Our two Geodomes will have a new up cycled pallet seating area much the same are our Unidomes have, just to add a little more luxury and comfort.

5. Our Woodland Hide Unidome will have a new improved flooring, giving more comfort.

6. Our BBQ Pod will have a prep bench outside making it a bit easier to chop all those veggies and prepare those salads.

7. A new more modern kitchen has been fitted in our communal kitchen, we have made it more open plan therefore creating more space and we have put gas cookers with oven space inside giving guests extra cooking options and facilities to make good old cuppa.

8. We are now offering packages for our guests so they an enjoy a more 1/2 board feel to their stay including continental breakfast, BBQ Hampers and use of our Eco Spa. .
